Fafnir had found us a scroll in the library on how to bond as a group. We had also talked to the master of the forge at Dagmar’s forge on how to make these group pattern items. The smith had given us a couple of pointers and we had developed a plan.
We were going to rent a small building at the forge that has a small forge in it that was not commonly used. Urgral was in charge of cleaning the forge and the smudging it with a combination of sage and lavender. Being a horror stalker he had a special sense to make sure that there were no negative energies.
Dremnin was going to go out in to the forests and find dead stone wood trees. He would then make charcoal out of it using a ground pit.
Stilicho was to go out to a body of water. Find a living cotton wood and harvest a large branch big enough to make all of the lumber needed to make 7 small casting boxes. He would nail them together with special bronze nails.
S’kram was to go out to the river and find a point that had a large pool. Dredge fine sand out of the bottom. Then I would have to screen and wash the sand.
Dagmar would turn the 2 daggers that I had brought with me from the pocket realm in to 7 round bars to make the pins. Dagmar would also be making the original carving to make the castings. He would also turn the gold, Silver, and copper coins in to wire.
Suulin would be weaving the wire in to braids. She would sing songs of groups of hero’s doing great deeds while weaving. She would make all of the braids for the cloak pins
Vridich would carve the magical runes in to the original carving. Seven of the eight links would contain a name of an Unchained member. In the link around the name the rest of the member’s names would be carved in magical runes. Vridich would do this delicate work with a silver pick.
All of us gathered on the day of the making. If all went well we would be preforming the group bond the next day. Dagmar led us in to the small forge. We had waited till evening to get started so no one would be around to disturb us. We lit lanterns and got the fire going in to the forge. We started putting in the charcoal and getting the fire hot. The casting boxes were passed out. We all scooped sand from the crocks filled with the fine wet sand. Each of us took turns pressing the original carving in to the sand. The braids were places in to the appropriate places in the press of the casting box.
Each of us received a crucible and a pound of elemental earth. Darmar showed us how to make the earth molten. We then slowly poured the molten earth in to the forms. We waited for ever for it to cool.
While we waited for it to cool we took turn making the pins for our cloak pins. We would heat the steal in the forge and use light hammers to pound one end of the rod into a light point. The other end we shaped in to a pick axe head. Then each one went in a bucket of water to cool.
When we were done with that we were able to get the earth out of the casting boxes. They were still warm but not hot. We all took small hammers and punches and tapped the light gold wire in to each of the runes. Finishing touches involved a tiny file to smooth out the edges. We had done it the group pattern items were compleat.
