Pain and rage, this is what I felt upon coming to and could not figure out while I was experiencing either. Looking around, my memory began to sort itself out. Three days ago while heading south to repair a waterwheel at mill we were set upon by slavers in the night. We gave a good account of ourselves but as I was the only adept present we were eventually taken, although not be killing at least 2 out right and removing another’s arm. For that I was punished severely and repeatedly as we traveled to the west. It was a band of orc scorchers that took us, led by a filthy human. The others called him Trejak. And with the passions as my witness, I will see him dead, soon.
Two nights later we were sold to the Therans. The captain of the barge even paid a hefty sum for my arms and armor, for which I am truly grateful. Chained to the inside of the barge we saw little over the nest several hours. We did our best to escape but the Therans our good at this and the chains were thick and timbers stout. At one point during our short voyage there was quite the commotion on deck as the crew ran around and there was much shouting. Guess they weren’t in the mood to tell their new slaves what was going on.
Our first morning on the ship proved to be eventful although I’m not sure why. Shortly after taking off I heard the crew start yelling frantically and running about. Then the fighting began I couldn’t tell what they were fighting but surely hoped it was a Throalic vessel. As the battle went on the ships movement became erratic until we began diving towards the earth.
Then pain and rage. I looked around and saw no movement; I then noticed the piece of shattered timber as thick as my thumb running through my upper thigh. Grasping it with a shaky hand I pulled it the rest of the way through almost passing out again. Drawing on the pain I used my magic to burn away the wound. Moving around the shattered hold of the barge I came across Yurthal, the foreman who had hired me to come along on the job. “Dagmar, come here” he whispered, his broken from shaking with the effort of speech. “Find my tools and return them to my eldest. “ After promising him that I would I began to search the wreckage. In a once locked room, now open to the hold, I found my arms and armor and Yurthal’s tools.
After arming myself I made my way to the upper deck. As I peered through a crack in the door I saw several very ugly beasts. Some sort of large winged lizard. As I burst out the door, keeping my back to the wall as to avoid being surrounded a shadow passed overhead. As I glanced up I saw an airship, hoping that it wasn’t more Therans I began battling with 2 of the beasts. Then forms start land on the deck of the barge. Some with less grace than others, but much to my relief they were not in Theran uniforms. The arrival of these strangers proved fortuitous otherwise that battle would have taken me much longer.

Great story Mike!
LOL I see we have a common enemy to find! If we do he will be in sad shape.
Trejak may be hiding in these trees somewhere…
