Five unlucky adept slaves find themselves oath-burdened with returning the original Book of Tomorrow to Throal. But first they must escape the mines, their slave masters, and an unknown force before they can even begin their quest.
After fighting off another wave of cadaver men, the group is joined by another human, Suulin. They soon discover a secret underground waterway out of the mines. What awaits the characters on the other side is an apparent abandoned Kaer Derinkuyu. They search around and find the tomb of Derin Kuyu. Carrying only broken weapons and no armor, the group decides to breach the tomb. From everywhere comes a horrendous screech. The characters decide they are no longer alone and start running in all directions.
Our intrepid heroes are attacked by horror constructs disguised as children. Each construct had two extra appendages that end in wicked poisoned barbs. Being outnumbered, the group does its best to repel the insidious kids and retreat. Everyone falls under the sway of Selenys’ Lurkers, only to be eatin by the Kaer Mole. Much therapy needed.
When the group finally awakens from the horrible truth that they were swallowed, they find themselves in a cave system. They hear the sounds of battle nearby and decide to join in on the fray. Allying themselves with an outnumbered group of humans and dwarves, the group crushes the attackers that appear all blue and bloated. Thanks all around and the group is introduced to Thorin Kuyu, Grandson of Derin Kuyu. Some of the PCs find mentors to train. After much talk, it’s decided that everyone will assault Selenys’s lair.
On the way to Selenys’s lair, the group is attacked by a Krillra, more undead cadavermen, another horror, manage to swim across a lake of blood, get attacked by two horrors and a large spider queen. All in a days work.
The Unchained have finally escaped slavery and find themselves literally out in the cold somewhere in the Twilight Peaks. For some reason, the sun is blocked out by a rather large, unfriendly looking Theran slave ship floating directly over head. Someone’s GM is a dick.
Two Theran Vedette airships assault the Stoneclaw’s Steelskull clan, a dual strike against a satellite village and the Reach itself, turning fire cannons against Troll homes and landing crack Theran marines to charge the home of the Steelskull family. The Unchained fight them off, subduing many marines. However the losses to the Reach are great, and many are wounded, dead, or missing. Much of the Reach is engulfed by flame.
