My Tender Heart,
Our time together has rejuvenated my essence when so little else in my existence has truly touched me. You’ve given me gifts you will not understand, not for a long time. Sadly, our time together as man and woman has come to an end. Though fear not, my love. I’ve left you with two gifts: the first is the song that you were humming even as I watched you sleep, the one that will help you find your way to your wayward captain; and the second – well, that will stay with you for as long as you keep faith with me.
You were more my muse than I yours. You intrigued me – my ideals were a part of you from the start. Perhaps your upbringing could be pointed at, but you suffered under the whip and your spirit was not broken. If anything it further tempered your vigor, your love of life and its hidden pleasures – a beautiful sunrise, a stirring chanty on the Dashing Stag’s rolling deck, or even the unlimited potential of the open road with a jaunty tune on your lips. The quiet moments are yours, and I share each of them with you.
Your tender ministrations took a broken little girl in a place of darkness and gave her new life. She worships you as a vibrant embodiment of youthful life and worthiness. Through the lens of your eyes your new daughter saw a world full of promise that a slave almost never experiences. Now she lives the dream that you gave life in your nurturing stories of hearth and home. You set her free.
Soul of the Unchained, Finder of Paths, Dremnin of Diamede, my Secret Heart – you are all these things and more. Your legend grows, and your deeds will shake the firmament. Do not be sad – I will speak to you in the wind as you sail the skies, hear your words whispered in the darkness, and feel you through the heartbeat of your next lover.
Yes, my dearest – love again. Real fire, deep-burning and unquenchable! Create, and share yourself and your talents. The gifts I leave you with are my ideals given life. They take form and substance through my patronage and your will. This is my pact with you, signed in the mingling of our flesh and the sharing of our spirits. Keep my faith and remain always wrapped in my adoration.
Yours in joy and sadness,
