After I finished dragging Trejak back in to the alter room I stood up and looked around. I could see dozens of little flecks reflecting the light in the air. I somehow realized that these were more of the horrors that had taken over Trejack. I could feel that I was getting a head ache. I was afraid that I had been infected. I could not let it happen to my friend. I took my cloak off and hung it up over the door jamb so that the air could not move the horrors out in to the next room.
The first voice I heard was Vridich. He asked me why I had made the curtain. I told him that I could see that there were more horrors loose in the room and that I thought I was affected. I was hurled back from the hanging cloak as the anti-horror magic circle Vridich put down pushed me away from the door. Oh the passions! I’m horror possessed! I shouted out through the curtain that I was pushed out of the circle. I was surely possessed and that I needed help. I could hear Urgral and Stilicho shouting at Suulin. They were telling her to get in to the circle. She was shouting that she couldn’t. Vridich was telling the guys not to go here and there. He had figured out how to see the horrors. I could not hear Dagmar or Dremnin. Ohh did something happen to them.
Urgral was yelling for Suulin to put something down. What the hell was going on out there? I could not reach the cloak to remove it so that I could see.
They are going to kill her, came a voice from behind me. I turned around and no one was there. What the hell? I looked back to the cloak. They have you trapped in here, your next you know, I heard again. Ohh Flourannus that voice came from inside my own head. I heard Suulin shouting get out of my head. Shit she must be hearing this too.
You can fight your way out when they come in to get you. You know you can take them. I will help you. The voice just kept going on and on. I pulled the hammer off my back. Yes I heard the voice. I tossed the hammer under the cloak and I could hear it slide on the stone floor in the next room. There I thought that will help keep them safe. I undid the tail mace and tossed it in next.
You should stop I heard. Don’t make me stop you. I don’t want to make this partnership a bad thing, the voice said. Stop it I shouted. Get out of my head. Suddenly my body turned and walked in to the edge of the circle and it broke.
I headed out in to the other room, not willingly. I saw Stilicho headed towards me. I felt that I had my last two weapons, my two daggers. I felt that I could get control of my hands. I tossed the two daggers down to the floor and they bounced past Stilicho.
In throwing the daggers away I left my face and chest open to attack. I said to Stilicho I’m not me, help. I could see the pain of his coming action in his eyes.
Stilicho lowered his shoulder and planted it right in my ribs. I felt the air leave my lungs as we hit the floor. Stilicho rolled me over and wrestled my arms behind me. Urgral jumped in and shacked my hands and feet.
I was arguing with the voice in my head while Urgral and Vridich killed all of the horrors out side of the three of our bodies. The rest of the Unchained decided they should leave the three of us that were affected in the alter room while they went and checked on every one eles. They tied us around the alter table. Then took all of our weapons and put them in the trunk. They carried the trunk out of the room. Dagmar then created a wall in the open door way. We were trapped.
As soon as we were alone the voice inside my head started to convince me that we should escape. It told me that the cure that they were going to look for was going to kill me. I tried to argue with it and Suulin was trying to argue with me for some reason. I think she lost her mind. I told it that my friends would not forget about us. That they would do whatever they had to rid us of the horror. I also said that I was not strong enough to break the shackles I was in. The voice told me that it could give me the power to break my bonds. No! I will wait. I could feel the horror go silent and pout like a child. But a short time later it started again.
I continued to resist, we had been in the room for about an hour. For some reason Suulin kicked Trejak, and that was enough to stir him. I could see him move. He was trying to figure out where he was. The bag over his head and body were making it difficult.
I knew he would try to escape. He had already once. I could not let him get out. The wall on the door way disappeared. I could see Trejak struggling with his bonds. Okay I said in my head. I need out of these bonds. Yes was all I heard. I pulled with my arms. I could feel the shackles cut in to my hands. My muscles swelled and pulled harder than I could have. Plink! The chain broke. I undid my feet.
I lept on to Trejak. He was still in the bag and had no way to defend himself. I heard the voice in the back of my head cheering in glee. My fist fell one after the other to his face and head, I beet his legs with my tail at the same time. Blow after blow to the head. The bag over his face started to turn red. He was still moving and shouting in pain. Then with a powerful double over hand blow I knocked him out. I would have continued to beet this man that I hated with every fiber of my being to death had it not been for Suulin.
She cast her muttering words at me and I could feel the unease they caused, but I played it cool. Well let’s make it a fair fight I thought, my passenger horror agreed and suggested I get my gear. That seemed like a good idea at the time. I turned and walked out of the room. I went all the way to the top and out of the temple. I was looking for the rest of the group they had the chest that had my gear in it.
I walked over to the camp and found most of the group was in between the two ships. The chest was over by the fire. I walked over and opened it up. There was my baby. I grabbed the hammer and the tail mace. I put the mace on. I saw that Stilicho was looking at me. I waved my hammer in a friendly gesture and then pointed back to the temple. I’m going back in; I need my hammer to kill Trejak I shouted to him. I remember him tapping Urgral and Vridich on the shoulder and having a very strange look on his face. I turned and headed back to the temple.
I was pleased to see that Suulin had dragged Trejak upstairs for me. She was at the temple entrance. She had a strange look of panic on her face that turned to determination. She tosses herself on top of Trejakand told me that I would have to hit her to hit him. This posed a problem for a second. I set hammer down and walked over. I was just going to flip Trejak over on top of her and hit him with the tail mace. I bent over to do the lifting when BAM. I was blindsided by a fast moving dwarf. Urgral tackled me and we went bouncing down the stone stairs. At the bottom Stilicho was on top of us and they bound me very tightly. This time I was angry about it. I was so close to my goal. They tied up the other two also. They put the three of us under the other boat with a bunch of the other crew. We could not see anything as they had put bags over our heads.
Sometime the next morning I was picked up and carried in to a tent. Was some chanting and then I heard the other voice in my head start screaming. It yelled curses and tried to take over my body it pleaded me to help it. Then there was a pop and it was gone.
A wave of regret washed over me. How could I ever look the other members in the eye again? I nearly beat a defenseless man to death, even if he deserved it, it was still wrong. I tithed a large portion of my fortune to the Questors of Garland. I was thankful to be saved. We dropped them off the next morning at their temple in the morning on the way back to the Throalic Kingdom.
